Gouveia (Portugal)

In a dangerous trial Manzano plays safe

The 2nd round of the world championship was held in the Portuguese village of Gouveia, near the National Park of Serra da Estrela, next to the Spanish frontier.

Sections became dangerous on Sunday, after a heavy rain that lasted all night and the first lap, and was afterwards accompanied by a strong wind.

The organizer, Moto Clube do Mondego, had taken security measures, but even so there were some injuries.

Manzi's helper, with a broken finger, had to do all he could, because the controllers didn't allow the 2nd helper permitted by the current rules.

Manzi, after seeing Vesterinen's helper cutting off his finger when he tried to catch the bike, decided to be careful and he got many fives.

The final result (11th on Saturday and 14th on Sunday) makes him lose one place in the standings to the 11th, waiting next round in Japan.
